How it works

Paragraph translation below the original
Hover over a paragraph and press Shift (or another key you choose). Long paragraphs can be shown sentence by sentence — automatically, always, or never.
-
Control
A word’s meaning in this sentence
Hover over a word and press Control for a card with its meaning here, part of speech, base form and the phrase it belongs to. A short definition also appears as you hover, and double-click lookup can be turned on in settings.
-
Language chunks, if you want them
Turn on Structure Analysis to underline useful phrases in translated paragraphs, each with its own short explanation.
-
Translation history in the side panel
Your translations are listed in Chrome’s side panel, where you can play them aloud, open a sentence analysis, or delete them.
-
Cloud or on-device translation
Cloud translation uses Microsoft Azure and Google Translate. Or switch to Chrome’s built-in translation model, which translates on your device. Word explanations use OpenAI and Google Gemini models.
